James is now in
his forever home with Gerry and Mildred Bell of Duncannon,
PA. It was love at first site for both sides. He had
really come out of his shell while being fostered at
Barbara Ewing's home, and was very outgoing with his
new family - lots of hugging and leaning!
When Millie put the leash on him to take him to the
car, he practically dragged her across the driveway
to jump in and made himself right at home in the back
of their SUV.

is doing wonderful! His new owners are a young couple
and Niko is their first ever dog. Niko is showing all
the wonders and joys of being owned by a Borzoi. He
is a very sweet and loving boy who is happy to have
finally found his forever home where with soft couches,
gentle hands and soft, kind voices. and love. |

Barkley
is about 28" and a tricolor with very light cream
markings. He has dew claws and was estimated to be around
16 to 18 months old.
Barkley was on his own for at least a month before
being captured near a barn in Independence, MO. He is
now living in MO with Ann Miller and her Moondance Kids.
He smiles too - and now he has plenty of reasons to!

| Pulled from the
GA, Clayton County, pound near Atlanta. We believe him
to be 3 to 5 years old and he was picked up as a stray.
He is intact and had no dewclaws. He
was picked up on June 6th by animal control at 301 Hampton
Drive near the Atlanta Race way. He is not chipped or
tattooed.
He was covered with ticks filthy and matted. He is
heart worm negative, was dehydrated when Dr. Avant got
him and is around 20 pounds underweight. Could be he
has been on the run for a while, we do not know.
We were unable to locate his breeder or former owner
and he was neutered and placed into a new home. |

| |
| Maxwell
is a 7 year old male, neutered and gets along with other
dogs, large and small as well as kids. He seems to prefer
men but is likes women also. We do not know about cats.
His owners lived in Tom,s River, NJ. He was surrendered
to rescue because the husband had a heart attack and
the couple are moving into a retirement community and
could not take him with them.
When his foster home picked him up, he had been living
tied in the owner's yard and was covered with fleas
and ticks. We were told he had not been to a Vet for
two years.
Maxwell is wonderfully sweet! He got right into the
tub for his foster mom and let her cut nails and trim
mats out of his coat. She keeps telling me how cute
and sweet he is. He is getting along well with her other
Borzoi and now that he is cleaned up and bug free is
playing and having a jolly time!! Maxwell is somewhat
over weight but that will not be a problem, he is on
a diet and will be getting much more exercise not that
he is not tied up but has free fun in his yard. |

Here is New Boy. We have a feeling
he is not purebred but, he looks and acts and leans
like a Borzoi so, here he is.
He was found in Richland County, OH is near the city
of Mansfield, OH. We think he was someone's pet at some
time and shown no typical signs of being abused.
During his stay in rescue, he was the perfect gentleman.
The warden at the pound where he was would lay on the
floor with him and the dog would lay next to him while
he picked burs out of his coat. This boy lit up when
he saw his foster mom Sheryl, leaned into her, lavished
her with sweet Borzoi kisses and said, "Please
take me home!! She did!
His new Mom is American but works for the AFL-CIO and
works some times in of all places Russia and he will
be traveling there with her. She had a Borzoi Golden
mix who died not too long ago and she is very pleased
to be getting another! |

Hope and Riley
are very gentle around children. - they were around
children from 2 through 8, and like gentle hugs. Riley
has been very hesitant of men, but is capable of warming
up. They are soft in temperament, Riley more so than
Hope. Riley loves puppies and has done well with other
males (intact) but is fearful of my more dominant bitches.
Hope gets along with everyone. They have both been around
a small dog without showing any signs of aggression
or wanting to hunt, but their former owner said they
will hunt birds and bunnies so don't know how they would
do with cats.
Hope is a real GRINNER! Her whole face wrinkles up.
They had their shots Aug 2002, and have been on interceptor.
Both are altered. Hope is about 6 1/2, Riley she said
about 5.
Hope and Riley are now living in Jackson, MI with a
Corgi and Chihuahua as housemates! |

We were contacted by the sister
of a Soldier who was deployed to Iraq. It was the Soldier's
wish for Isaiah to be placed into a new home.
We (NBRF) offered to foster this Handsome Boy till the
Soldier's return but we were told that his owner was
unsure of his future and wished for a new home for Isaiah.
Isaiah is an almost 8 year old neutered Borzoi. He
has found a new and forever loving home in Indiana.
Isaiah lives with his human companion and another Borzoi
Rescue named Natasha, a 10 year old, spayed female.
Natasha greeted him with tail wags.
We have told the Soldier's sister that upon his return
to the US, this home will welcome contact from him.
Furthermore, when and if the time is right for the Soldier,
we will be more than happy to help him find another
Borzoi. Isaiah was a well loved and cared for Borzoi.
He is well socialized boy and in excellent health. We
truly appreciate the sacrifice this Solder made on behalf
of his dog.
Isaiah was met with tail wags by Natasha, the home's
10 year old female Borzoi. When Isaiah's new owner got
out of his car, he got down on his knees and Isaiah
went right over to him and gave him sweet Borzoi kisses |

upon entering rescue

in her new home |
Belle is
a 7 year old, spayed female and was fostered with Alicia
Mc Cabe in SC.
Belle lived for the last year or so at the end of chain.
When she entered rescue, she was pretty matted with
Pine Pitch all in her fur. Her nails were so long she
could barely walk.
Her former owner got her second hand and did not know
her breeder.
Today Belle is in her new home - re-named Garbo! She
came through her heartworm treatments with flying colors
thanks to Dr. Lou Avant, who also fostered her during
her recovery.
What her new owner has to say about her: "Garbo
is such a wonderful dog! I should have named her Mona
Lisa...when I talk to her and rub her, she has this
great moan. Like she's trying to talk to me to let me
know how happy she is. She actually answers back when
I baby-talk her! She doesn't even acknowledge the cats.
They are not afraid of her. I've had rain every day
since I brought Garbo home. She's great at going out
in the rain, I guess because she lived in it for so
long. This weekend is supposed to be sunny and warm.
I can't wait, I can tell she's wanting to play a little
bit. I love her so much. Believe me, she has a wonderful
new home full of love." |

Morski was
an owner give up. We are not sure exactly where his
former owner lived, the rescue we got him from was not
forthcoming with information but said they did call
his breeder who said they could not at this time take
him back.
We wanted to give his breeder a chance to claim him.
Since we have not gotten that information, and we tried,
we are not really sure if they were called or not. After
appearing on our website, Morski's breeder was located,
and he has since gone back to his breeder! |

Meet Tolstoi,
a 6 year old male and a house dog all his life. He had
always slept on his owner's bed. His owner's husband
died suddenly and her adult children moved her down
to SC then on to FL, and Tolstoi was in need of placement
into a new home.
Tolstoi is an alpha male but does get along with other
dogs including males outside of his space. He loves
walks and responds well to correction on lead. He loves
elderly women!! Tolstoi rides well and loves walks. |

While at a
dog show, a young woman spotted this puppy who was three
weeks old at the time. She was there with her mother
and siblings and the woman that owned them was a vendor
at the show. This woman, having a Show Dog background,
asked about her, it was obvious there was something
"wrong" with this puppy. The breeder said
she had been stepped on and she did not expect her to
live but was putting her with the other puppies to nurse
from her mother. When the woman asked if the breeder
and taken her to a Vet, the breeder told her no, that
she was just going to likely die.
The woman asked if she could have the puppy and the
breeder gave Faith to |
| her
at the dog show. Well, the woman had an Aunt who just
happens to work for a Vet. She brought Faith to her
and her Aunt took her to work. The Vet said it was too
bad she didn't get vet care sooner as, indeed something
could have been done for the puppy but, you can see
the result of their care and love for this little Borzoi
Baby!
<< Faith in her new home! |

Tatiana (top)
and Valentina (bottom) are BIG girls
at 30" and typical 2 year olds. Both girls came
to us spayed, current on shots and heart worm preventative.
Their owner surrendered them because she has another,
older Borzoi bitch that has gone after them several
times and simply will not accept them. They have moved
to their new home in PA. |
|
|
|
Van & Teeter
are six year old siblings who were given up when their
family had to move to take care of an ill parent. They
are now happily ensconced in their new home together. |

Spring, a borzoi/afghan cross, is
now living with Mary Childs. She was found on a busy
highway in Grafton, Ohio by a young girl who took her
to a vet clinic in Amherst, Ohio for treatment. She
has been living with one of the girls from the clinic
for the past 3 months. She was surrendered to Afghan
Hound Rescue after the husband said she had to go because
of her chewing. |

Sarah was bailed out of a Florida
shelter and went to live with "foster parents"
the Anthonys, where she soon became a permanent member
of the family. When she was rescued she weighed only
46 pounds at 28 inches high, resembling a "little
refugee". As you can see from the photo - she just
LOVES her new daddy! |
|

|
Ty is a 5-6 year old male, approximately
35" at the shoulder, very sweet, and found in Orlando,
FL. When he came into rescue he could barely stand and
he had a heart problem (arrhythmia). His heart has been
converted and he is currently off of all medication
and is pretty much a normal Borzoi, although a little
slower than most. While Judy Tickner was fostering him,
her husband became very attached to him, and he is now
part of their home! |
|
|
|
Sergei, a 5 year old male was sold
to a woman in the military who was transferred out of
country. She placed him in a home that did not work
out and he was then turned into the Ottawa, Kansas shelter
and Ed and Linda Bourne rescued him from the shelter
and fostered him. He has been adopted by Dr. Nicholas
Costrini who picked him up at the nationals - it was
love at first sight! |
|
|
|
Judy was found near St George's
Bridge, DE and dropped off at a shelter as a stray.
She is most likely a Borzoi mix, and her age is estimated
at 1-2 years. She was rescued from the shelter by Charles
Greene and fostered by Barbara Ewing.
She has a new home in the Va. Beach area with Stephanie
Kinzel. Judy is the spitting image of a borzoi/mix Stephanie
had years ago, even down to her markings. |

Nekkid Ladies!
The two "Naked Ladies" are living in MI with
their new owners and children (3 boys - ages 14 and
twin 10 year olds). They are growing hair and enjoying
cuddling with the kids. They also have a fondness for
soft couches and charing the beds with the boys! They
get lots of walks and are instructing their owners on
the joys of living with (or being owned by) Borzoi!
Thanks to Dr. Jim Sillers for rescueing these lovely
ladies. |

Breaker, the last of the "PA
10", has a new home with Hugh McFadden and his
family. They have an older lady borzoi and Breaker is
her new companion. From a dog that a previous foster
home told us to euthanize, he has come a long way. He
does have some "issues" like the attention
span of a gnat, but he is very loving and just can't
wait to do everything at once! |
